How do I start syncing?

1. First, you need to install SyncJe for Apple iPhone.

2. If you use Google, just enter your Google account details, and you’ll be syncing right away! If you do not use Google, you can sign up for a free Google account, or:

You will need to sign up with a SyncML capable server. There are many free servers available, and some of the more popular ones are listed below.

* Scheduleworld: Another free service, which can be used for mobile devices and your PC to synchronise contact information, notes, task lists, and calendar information.

* Mobical: A free SyncML service, allowing you to sync your calendar, notes, task lists and contact information.

3. Finally, you need to setup SyncJe for iPhone so it knows which server you are using. Now your iPhone will stay in sync automatically, without having to connect it to your computer.

What is a SyncML server and why do I need one?

- SyncJe for iPhone needs to communicate with a SyncML-compatible server for synchronization to work. The SyncML server is "Always On", and acts as a bridge between your iPhone, and the computer you want to sync with. It stores the latest updates of your information and makes sure that your iPhone and computer are both up to date. ?

What is SyncML?

- SyncML (Synchronization Markup Language), is an industry-wide effort to create a single, common data synchronization protocol optimized for wireless networks. SyncML's goal is to have networked data that support synchronization with any mobile device, and mobile devices that support synchronization with any networked data. The SyncML structured data layer will use XML wherever appropriate. SyncML is intended to work on transport protocols as diverse as HTTP, WSP (part of WAP) and OBEX, and with data formats ranging from personal data (e.g. vCard & vCalendar) to relational data and XML documents.

Contacts only

:
I've used and been happy with SyncJE on other platforms including OSX and Blackberry. But unlike those this only does contacts. This likely due to Apple's limitations/requirements but unfortunately I didn't carefully read the product page and expected to get calendar sync also. This is my fault for not reading carefully but as a user of other Nexthaus products, I was dissapointed that this wasn't a feature of the iPhone version and that Nexthaus did not make it more obviously clear that this version was different/limited. Still I give it an average rating because the product seems decent, as are the other versions and probably perfectly suitable for those only wanting contacts synced. I hope Apple loosens their restrictions soon so Nexthaus can deliver a non neutered version in the future.

Not working so great yet, but helpful staff. Wishing for 1.1.2...

:
I couldn't get this to work with my company's Oracle Calendar server. Three different people at Nexthaus spend a total of a couple hours with me on phone and chat trying to get it to work, ultimately without success. The instructions, features, and versions on their website are different from the App Store. I hope they can get this working -- it would be an enormous help to me.

misrepresents sync process

:
I read about this on their web site and it did not tell me it needed a web server to sync the data.

This is a lousy product.

I want my money back.
